Hydrology.UK. Established in 1995, we are a small, UK-based team of technical specialists in hydrology who have been around for over 30 years. We work with all aspects of the natural fresh-water cycle, which involves the movement of water above and below the earth's surface. We focus on understanding and analysing the physical, numerical, and statistical components of this cycle, including rainfall, soil-water movement, plant respiration, catchment drainage, river behaviour and flow regimes, river-aquifer interactions, low flow and flood studies, flood routing, reservoir hydrology and operation, eco-hydrology and in-stream river habitats. And although we are UK-based, we have worked in places as diverse as North Uist in the Outer Hebrides, to Saudi Arabia and Kuwait in the Middle East, to Kenya and Zambia in Africa, to the rainforests of Brazil.

Everyone on our team has a PhD, is professionally qualified, is chartered or working towards chartered status, and is both highly numerate and highly computer literate. But, since we know that numbers and computer models without context are meaningless, we also place great emphasis on everyone in the team being experienced and skilled in hydrometric data collection and understanding hydrology in the field - we are 'old-school' hydrologists who like to get our feet wet!

We work for large corporate clients needing robust and reliable water resources solutions, for example for a major new reservoir or complex water resources system modelling, through to wildlife trusts that need advice on river gauging, to individuals and families who are struggling with domestic flooding issues and don't know where to turn for help. We pride ourselves on being friendly and approachable, while maintaining the highest professional standards. Being ethically driven, we have flexible rates depending on means (and the nature of the work) to be affordable where needed. We don't start charging for our time until a contract is agreed, so initial advice is always free.
